Scott was a two-sport star at Highlands High School.  He shined on the football field and the basketball court.  He was a two-way player on the field as a tight end and a defensive lineman. He received All-Northern California honors in football and league MVP honors in basketball.

Scott decided football was going to be his ticket and accepted a scholarship from the University of Southern California to play tight end. He became a starter his junior year. As a senior, he was part of the 1990 USC Rose Bowl winning team. He was named to the All-Pac-10 team for two consecutive seasons and finished his college career with 51 receptions with 571 yards and five touchdowns.

He went on to a successful and lengthy NFL career playing for four different teams over nine years. His shining moment was being part of the Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl team of 1993. He helped Emmitt Smith win a third consecutive rushing title with 283 carries for 1,486 yards.

He played in 118 NFL games while being one of the best blocking tight ends during his time in the league. He had 60 receptions for 670 yards and six touchdowns.

Scott is currently the Chaplain of the Sacramento Kings. He is a third-generation preacher in the Church of God in Christ, starting with his great-grandfather who founded the first C.O.G.I.C. Church in California (Old Street Church of God in Christ).
