Congratulations to our
2016 Special Olympics Inductee:
DEANNE BRIDGES
In her 25+ years with Special Olympics, Deanne has earned more than 250 medals with a vast amount of those being Gold. In 2015, she won 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze individual medal and a 4th place team medal. Deanne’s goal is to be selected to attend a National Games or a World Games. For the past 11 years she has been the “Anchor Chick” for the Folsom Hills Women’s relay team. She will also be competing in the upcoming Sacramento Bowling Regional Competition and trained for Track & Field in the Spring, but chose to compete in Aquatics at the Roseville Spring Games.
Deanne graduated from Golden Sierra High School in Garden Valley and attends a day program in Placerville during the week. She and her family travel one hour each way to get to weekly practices. Despite her impaired vision and asthma, Deanne is still a fierce competitor in Aquatics, Bocce, Track & Field, and Bowling. She is disciplined in her sports training, very dependable and always “brave in the attempt.”
Her coaches recognize her as a role model to all of the young girls and ladies, not only on their team but within the Special Olympics community as well.
