The Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame was created to publicly honor and celebrate our area’s greatest athletes in a unique fashion that involves the loyal Sacramento sports fans.  The organization was created in 2012 by TC Martin who assembled a team of native and current Sacramento residents who are longtime business professionals, athletes and activists in the community.  The executive committee consists of former athletes,  media members and historic sports enthusiasts who share the same vision and passion of honoring our home grown athletes.  

 

After extensively researching the past and current accomplishments of Sacramento's most decorated athletes, the executive committee and fans nominate those who have achieved success at the highest level of their competitive sport.  This encompasses success at the amateur and professional levels.  Once the list of nominees is completed, fans annually determine who will get elected to the Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame.  A maximum of five athletes are enshrined each year.  Those athletes are determined by popular vote of sports fans who cast their votes on the official website www.SacSportsHOF.com during the annual voting period which takes place during October and November.  

 

The highlight is the actual induction ceremony titled the Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame Celebration which is held at the end of January each year.   This event is a fun filled evening that gives fans the opportunity to see these great athletes come together for this special evening of fun, honor and reminiscing.  This is a unique gathering that enables fans to be up close and personal with the athletes in a intimate setting at Thunder Valley Casino Resort.  The event is packed with personal appearances and speeches with the inductees, video tributes, entertainment and food and beverage. Many of the past inductees and nominees also attend and are part of the crowd. The evening is culminated by a meet and greet with the inductees and the fans in attendance.  This one-of-a-kind celebration event has turned into a reunion for fellow athletes and fans alike.    

 

Now going into its 8th year, the Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame continues to grow. It has gained not only local acclaim but national recognition. Our goal is to continue to create more awareness of the outstanding talent that was nourished in our local community and honor the sports legends who have reached the pinnacle of their respective fields.  

 

The Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame also raises money for charity.  Our charitable partner is Special Olympics Northern California.  Our event has helped us donate over $15,000 to SONC as well as inducting a Special Olympics athlete from the Sacramento area each year.
